FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Savannah, GA – April 8th, 2025 – Low Country Grit, a fresh and spirited online retail shop based in Savannah, is proud to announce its launch with its first nonprofit partnership with the Tybee Island Marine Science Center (TIMSC). In true coastal fashion, this exciting collaboration features exclusive apparel designed by local Tybee artist Macey C. Rewis of Salted Souls Gallery, with a portion of proceeds directly supporting the Center’s marine science education and conservation efforts.
This limited-edition collection full of Lowcountry soul and salty vibes will premiere April 26th at the TIMSC Turtle Trot 5K Beach Run followed by the online premiere at www.lowcountrygrit.com. Low Country Grit partners with homegrown artists and
mission-driven nonprofits to design high-quality products that make a difference. This debut collaboration brings together the heart of the coast and the soul of a cause. The new apparel line celebrates the beauty of island life and aligns perfectly with the Marine Science Center’s mission to protect and preserve our coastal environment.
“Low Country Grit isn’t just about shopping—it’s about storytelling and giving
back,” said Alexa Frame, co-founder of Low Country Grit. “We’re bringing artists and causes together to create something meaningful—rooted in community, culture, and coastal preservation. This is about making waves in the best way possible.”
Macey C. Rewis, the creative talent behind Salted Soul Gallery, is a lifelong Savannah native whose work draws from the rhythm and charm of the Georgia coast.
“Growing up in Savannah, the coast has always inspired me,” says Macey. “With this
partnership, I’m honored to share my art in a way that uplifts both my own dream and the amazing work of the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. Together, we’re spreading love for the ocean—one shirt at a time.”
The Tybee Island Marine Science Center (TIMSC) offers hands-on marine science and nature programs for all ages, helping locals and visitors connect with Georgia’s rich coastal ecology. Whether in the marsh, on the beach, or in their Open-Air Classroom, the Center provides unforgettable educational experiences that spark a lifelong love of the sea.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Low Country Grit to raise awareness for sea turtle conservation,” said Jessica Leigh Lebos, Communications & Marketing Director for the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. “This collaboration supports our mission to protect marine life and educate our community—especially about our resident sea turtles, Westie and Ossie.”
And that’s not all—Low Country Grit is also a proud sponsor of the 18th Annual Turtle Trot, a beloved event supporting the Center’s sea turtle conservation efforts. This year’s proceeds will help fund a vital beach utility vehicle to assist with nest monitoring and sea turtle rescues.
